University of Leicester - England

One of the senior universities in the UK, the foundation of the University of Leicester can be traced back to 1921, though it achieved its full credentials in 1957. The National Student Survey has ranked the University of Leicester as a joint 1st for teaching quality and overall satisfaction among mainstream UK universities for two successive years. The Times Good University Guide ranks the University of Leicester among the top 20 universities in the UK. The most famous research achievement of this university is the discovery of DNA Genetic Fingerprinting.

Location :
The University of Leicester is located in Leicester, situated at the centre of England. Leicester is close to the M1 and M69 motorways. Nearby is the Leicester Railway station and London is at a distance of 75 minutes by train. The university campus is near the Leicester city centre.

The University of Leicester has the Main Library, Clinical Sciences Library and Education Library. The library provides learning resources for all taught programs, research materials, e-resources, e-books and e-newspapers, exam papers, etc. The services offered by the library apart from borrowing and enquiry services, are access to other libraries, inter-library loans, citing references, photocopying and retrieval service.

Accommodation :
The University of Leicester provides both catered and self-catering accommodation for its students. Availing university accommodation is recommended for first year students by the university. Apart from this, the Student's Union assists students in finding private sector accommodation through the Student Union Private Sector Accommodation Office.

Scholarships :
1. A non-repayable scholarship of 1000 GBP for UK students based on their merit. The scholarships are available selected courses and for one year of academic study only.
