John C. Calhoun Community College, Decatur is the largest of the two-year institutions comprising the Alabama College System. The College offers 49-degree programs and 52 career/certificate programs. Calhoun serves around 9,000 students. The Calhoun Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The programs of study at the John C. Calhoun Community College include various divisions such as Adult Education, Distance Education, Business/CIS Division, Humanities Division, Mathematics Division, Division of Health and Natural Sciences, Social Sciences Division and Technologies Division.
The college has 302 full-time employees. Out of these, 133 serve on the college faculty.
For 59 years, the college has dedicatedly worked on building an educational foundation for the residents of North Alabama. The college provides State and nationally recognized programs in Dental Assisting, Nursing, EMT, Surgical Technology, Design Drafting and Machine Tool Technology. Another feature of the college is its workforce development training and assessments for over 100 businesses and more than 6,000 students.
