London South Bank University review - England

The London South Bank University was founded in 1892 as the Borough Polytechnic and merged with four other colleges in 1970 to become the South Bank Polytechnic. In June 1992 the institute attained the status of a university. The university covers vocational and applied subjects and has specialist professional and industrial links.

Location :
The London South Bank University is situated very close to Central London, near Waterloo and London Bridge tube stations. The National Theatre and Arts complex is minutes away from the main campus of the university.

Library & Learning Resources : The London South Bank University library provides over 5000 journals, over 80 databases of subject information and full text articles, full text of main English newspapers for the past three years, links to subject sites for research and library catalogue services. Apart from this, the Learning Resource Centre on Southwark campus provides 400 open access PCs and other IT facilities.

Accommodation : The London South Bank University has four student residences and can provide accommodation to over 1400 students. Accommodation consists of single bedrooms or en-suite bedrooms located within self-contained flats. The university Accommodation Office also provides help regarding arrangement of private sector accommodation for students.

Scholarships : Apart from Government Financial Support, the London South Bank University provides two main scholarships, an Annual Grant and a Discounted Fees Scheme for UK and EU students. The institute also awards other scholarships and grants for students in this category. For the international students, external funding through the British Council and internal funding through London South Bank University's Charitable Fund is available.
