The Bevill State Community College was formed in 1992. This college has campuses in four areas namely Fayette, Hamilton, Jasper and Sumiton. The Sumiton Campus is one of the largest of Bevill State's four main campuses. The campus is situated on Walker County on a 95-acre site of gently rolling hills in Sumiton, Alabama, on Highway 78 West. The Sumiton Campus was created as a technical college in 1966. Later in 1992, it was merged with Brewer State Junior College in 1992 to form BSCC.
This campus enrolls around 1,300 students and offers a wide range of academic transfer and technical/vocational programs.
At the campus, community based activities and services are also organized. The campus has 15 academic/technical and administrative buildings.
