The City and Guilds of London Art School was established in the year 1879 in Kennington by he CITY AND GUILDS OF LONDON INSTITUTE. Initially it was started as a branch of the Lambeth School of Art, providing guidance only in arts but gradually it has expanded its educational sphere and now offers a wide variety of courses to it's body of students which is global.
The departments of the school are Carving,Conservaton,Fine Art,Foundation,Humanities. A full time graduate or post graduate course The school is launching eight new short courses in fields like Stained Glass,Life drawing,Printmaking,Stone carving and Wood carving, Letter Cutting,Guilding,Ornamental Wood Crafting. The school has also gained degree status in Conservation and Fine Arts.A one year full-time and two year part time MA course in Fine Arts has also been started. In addition ,it has it's long established graduation and post graduation degrees in Fine Arts.
On the Foundaton Course Discretionary awards are granted to the students based on the local authority and financial circumstances of the students.The students can also apply for Senior Award of the University which is granted on the basis of performance of the students.
The school also organizes Open days from time to time when interested candidates are allowed to visit the school and gather all information they require.The coming dates for open days are 1st and 15th of March ,2007.
