Bevill State Community College Jasper Campus

The Bevill State Community College was formed in 1992. This college has campuses in four areas. The four areas are Fayette, Hamilton, Jasper, and Sumiton. The college is located in the rolling hills of the Appalachian Mountains.

Bevill State Community College was initially named Walker College. It opened its doors on September 15, 1938 with 45 students. Walker College was accredited through the Southern Association of Junior Colleges.

The Jasper campus of Bevill State Community College is made up of 17 building, including the Frances Israel Center. The college also houses the Irma Dilg Nicholson Library and the Carl Hare Child Development Center.

Walker College had a five-year association with the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After this the college merged with Bevill State Community College in 1998. The Jasper Campus has shown tremendous growth over the years, presently serving 1,000 students.
