The Greenwich University history is rooted back in 1890 when Britain's second Polytechnic was opened. Past these years the Institute had undergone several amalgamations and changes and in the year 1992 it established itself as a university. The University has three campuses - Avery Hill is situated in the south-east London, Eltham district. Greenwich & Medway is situated in Chatham Maritime, Kent. The university has a very friendly and healthy atmosphere for students from different communities. It has special departments to support disabled students.

The University of Greenwich is an institution for higher education as well as professional and vocational training. There are several work-related programmes emphasizing on professional and vocational training. The programmes are divided into few main categories-

The University has a very flexible and special combined degree facility where one can choose what they want to study and at the same time specify the emphasis of the degree course. Students can take up a Joint-combination or a Major/Minor combination. The University is well known for the Research based programmes. For two years The Greenwich University has won the research based Queen's Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further education.
Accommodation : Students of each campus are provided with their specified requirements. The Halls of Residence in each campus provide study bedrooms equipped with latest facilities. Apart from this the University also helps student find private accommodation.
