St. Jerome's University-Canada

The St. Jerome's University established in 1865 is a well-known Roman Catholic institution federated with the University of Waterloo.

It encourages both full time and part time students to take up courses with the university

  • the fee structure is varied and is subject to change. The undergraduate tuition fees for the international students are almost $16,195-$17,695, while the compulsory fees can range from$ 450-$1,022.
  • The campus has a huge library known as the St. Jerome's Library with 40,000 books, periodicals as well as audio-visual and electronic resources to help the students. This library is part of the Tri-University Group or TUG.
  • The campus has both on campus and off campus housing available. The on campus housing has two residences where almost 286 students can stay. The men's residence has provision for both double and single rooms. There are 775 spaces accessible to the first year students. The cost for the housing is $7,250 for double occupancy. However the cost is always subject to change.
  • A total amount of $700-$3,000 is spent for Entrance Scholarships.
The Arts faculty has two important scholarships
  • Entrance Scholarship--$700-$2,000 based on academic performances
  • Founder's Scholarship--$1,000—this scholarship is generally given to one student selected from the Roman Catholic School. The Mathematics department also awards two scholarships like:
  • Entrance Scholarship--$1,000-$2,000 based on the academic performance
  • Founder's Scholarship--$1,000-$2,000 to one student selected from the Roman Catholic School.

Research is conducted in subjects like English, Psychology and Sociology. The students engage in different co-curricular activities like sports, performing arts etc. The health services, counseling services and the campus police are the most important facilities provided to the students. A new post-graduate program in Theology—Master of Catholic Thought (MCT) approved by the Ontario Council of Graduate Studies (OCGS) is gaining popularity among the students.

Some of the subjects taught in the university are English, History, Italian and French Studies, Legal Studies and Criminology, Medieval Studies, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Sexuality, Marriage and Family Studies, Master of Catholic Thought etc.
